Rhode Island Wing Members,
Rhode Island Wing has been invited to support Leapfest 2026, one of the world’s largest and longest-running international military parachute competitions.
Competition Day is Saturday, August 1, 2026, with a rain date of Sunday, August 2. We are seeking senior members and cadets to assist at the Drop Zone in the following areas:
• Drop Zone Spectator Control: Keep spectators within designated viewing areas, manage public movement, and help ensure the Drop Zone remains clear and safe.
• Public Parking Control: Help direct vehicles into the main parking lot and guide pedestrians safely from the parking area to the spectator area.
• Scorecard Runners: Deliver completed scorecards from the judges to the administrative scoring table.
This is an excellent opportunity to support the Rhode Island National Guard, serve our community, and see an exciting international military competition.
Members interested in participating should register using the following form:
Sign-up form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1eREP5E3qWlp8Qw6WF3Ftp26PcTNHVBzppWnTGKN8nB…

Greetings everyone,
This is a reminder that we’ll be hosting an sUAS information session on 27 July 2026. Please note that the meeting time has changed to 2000 instead of 1900.
At this session, I’ll be going over our plans for building up the sUAS program within Rhode Island Wing, including training opportunities coming up, how cadets can get involved, and how both cadets and seniors can earn their sUAS wings!
I look forward to talking with you on Monday evening. And in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

RIWG Saturday's ES exercise is a go! The showers are forecast to hold off until the afternoon, so we should be able to get an AP sortie or two in the air. Mission base will be at Wing HQ in Cranston with a start time of 0930 for mission staff and 1000 for aircrew and ground team. At this time, we do not have enough members participating as ground team to dispatch a unit.

Greetings everyone,
I’d like to introduce myself as the new Director of Operations for UAS. I’m excited to be stepping into this role and to help grow our drone program across the Wing.
We plan to start conducting UAS training later this summer in coordination with Massachusetts Wing geared towards obtaining the ES qualifications needed to operate our drones (UAS Mission Pilot and UAS Technician). In addition, we will also be partnering with the Wing Aerospace Education Officer to bring the drones and drone education to the squadrons as part of the AE program. My plan is to give every cadet and senior member who wants to get hands on with a drone an opportunity to do so, whether its as a recreational pilot or as a member of the emergency services crew, or both!
I will be hosting a virtual information session on Monday, July 27 at 1900 on Teams (see invite link below) where I’ll walk through the drone program, timeline for implementation and opportunities that are available to obtain the necessary training. Whether you’re an experienced drone operator or brand new to flying drones, please attend!
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Greetings Cadets, Senior Members, Parents & Friends,
Happy 4th of July, as we celebrate the historic 250th anniversary of our nation's founding!
As you enjoy holiday events today, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the deep history of our country, the freedoms we enjoy, and the incredible potential that lies ahead.
In Civil Air Patrol, we witness that potential every single day, and I see the future of America in our cadets. Through the leadership, aerospace, and emergency services opportunities offered in CAP, you have the unique chance to do extraordinary things and push beyond their limits. You are the next generation of innovators and leaders.
I also see the living pride and history of our nation in our adult members. By serving as mentors, instructors, and guides, you are actively shaping and preparing those future leaders. Your dedication ensures that the values of service and excellence endure.
Thank you all for your commitment to our community, state and nation.
Have a safe, proud, and happy Independence Day!
Semper vigilans,
