Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) Uniform is Authorized

Greetings, I hope you’re doing well today. I wanted to pass along an important uniform update that just came down. After a lot of anticipation (and a whole lot of questions along the way), the Operational Camouflage Pattern uniform is now officially authorized for CAP wear. Here’s the quick rundown so you don’t have to dig around for the key dates: • OCPs are authorized as a CAP utility uniform starting 1 November 2025. • ABUs are still good to go for a while. The phase-out date for ABUs is 31 October 2028, so no need to rush out and replace anything if you’re not ready. • Coyote Brown boots are now authorized with the USAF-style Flight Duty Uniform starting 1 November 2025. If you’d like the deeper dive, all of this is tied to the updated guidance in Chapter 7 and CAPR 39-1. It’s worth a look when you get a moment, especially if you’re helping your squadron sort out questions from members. Additionally, please see the following guidance from CAP-USAF if you experience issues when purchasing uniform items. Please see the attached message from AAFES to all military clothing sales regarding approval for CAP personnel to purchase OCPs. There may still be confusion, so the attached can be distributed and printed proactively by the member for additional reference at the counter if needed. DAFI 34-110(I) is also attached, that outlines CAP requirements to access AAFES for military uniforms * Note: AR 215-8/DAFI 34-110(I), page 30, Item 13 and 14 * Item 13 references SM requirements, which include in travel status and occupying government quarters. * Item 14 references Cadet requirements, which only requires a CAP membership card Please let me know if any of your members run into problems purchasing authorized items from AAFES. Holiday Lights exercise

Again this year, RIWG will be conducting a Holiday Lights Emergency Services exercise. This exercise focuses on Mission Radio Operator and Disaster Relief assessment training. This is a multi-evening exercise, Wednesday through Saturday, December 10th to December 13th. Squadrons are strongly encouraged to use their vans to take their members around Rhode Island to view Christmas light decorations and evaluate them. The Wednesday, Thursday and Friday exercises will start at 6:00 p.m. and run till 9:00. We will stop providing new targets in time for squadrons to return back to their home station. If squadrons need additional vehicles, let me know as soon as possible and we will work to accommodate. Although this is operated as an ES exercise, since squadrons are traveling together in an urban area, safety is the only requirement. Qualified members can get qualifications in UDF and MRO. Saturday operations will start at 1500 and plan to meet at wing around 2030 for snacks and plan to be home no later than 10:00 p.m. Aircrews tasking is to operate at night to locate locations with clusters of lighted holiday decorations. This is to train our CAP members to dispatch and evaluate disaster damage using holiday decorations as a surrogate for damage. Please sign-up for this exercise through your unit. I request unit ES officers keep me updated on squadron participation.
