Massachusetts Search and Rescue School (MASAR) is pleased to offer FREE training for Urban Direction Finding (UDF) and sUAS Technician/MP (drones) qualifications on 4 Oct 2025  at  Trout Brook Recreation area in Holden, MA
NOTE: you can pick EITHER UDF or sUAS for this session. 

NOTE:   Sign-up closes on 27 Sep 2025 at 1600 UTC (12pm local)

What
UDF - train and evaluate/sign off tasks
  • O-0010 prepare urban DF team individual equipment
  • O-0220 move from point to point in a vehicle using a map
  • P-0101 keep a log
  • P-0102 conduct a phone alert
  • L-0101 inspect a vehicle
sUAS - train and evaluate/signoff tasks
  • Individualized based on needs
When
October 4th, 2025

Requirements
UDF
  • Completed CAPT 116 (General Emergency Services Test (GES)) available in Absorb LMS
  • Commander Approval for UDF Prerequisites in Operational Qualifications (just submit in Operational Qualifications)
  • Minimum equipment list for task O-0010 including:
    • Any CAP authorized uniform
    • Notepad and pencil/pen
    • CAP Identification (CAP ID card)
    • Watch (or phone showing time )
    • Orange reflective safety west, ANSI-2 recommended. 
    • Ground and UDF Team Task Guide
    • If you don't have all of the equipment listed, you can STILL PARTICIPATE, the task will be signed off at a later date once you have equipment
  • Note future sessions would also require a Compass (lensatic or orienteering (prefered) ) with "glow in dark" dial for land navigation, you can ask trainers at first session for recommendations
sUAS
  • Completed CAPT 116 (General Emergency Services Test (GES)) available in Absorb LMS
  • Commander Approval for sUAS Technician Prerequisites in Operational Qualifications (just submit in Operational Qualifications)
  • Safety vest (Orange reflective safety west, ANSI-2 recommended)
