Greetings Team,
Recruiting is everyone’s responsibility — and it’s vital to the health of our squadrons. Each March, wing commanders must review unit strength to determine if squadrons can continue to exist.
To stay active, squadrons must have at least 15 members, including 3 senior members, while
flights must have at least 8 members, including 3 senior members. If a unit cannot maintain those numbers, it may be redesignated or deactivated. None of us want to see that happen — and that’s why recruiting is so important.
When you bring someone new into Civil Air Patrol, make sure your name is listed on the new member’s application so you receive proper credit for the recruitment.
Just as important as recruiting is vetting new members through the unit membership board. This step ensures that those joining our team align with CAP’s core values and will contribute positively to our mission. Please take the time to conduct membership
board interviews carefully and thoughtfully.
To recognize your efforts, there’s also an annual award for the top recruiter in Rhode Island Wing — a small way to say thank you for helping our organization grow stronger.
Whether it’s a friend, coworker, classmate, or family member — someone out there is looking for what CAP offers: leadership, service, and a sense of purpose. Let’s invite them in.
Thank you for all you do to keep our wing vibrant and mission-ready.
Carpe diem,
Col Stan Skrabut
